I’m writing this email having spent the last four weeks in Austin, TX.

Away from my home, my family, and my normal routines.

When this trip fell into my lap, it was if Spirit opened a door and asked if I wanted to walk through to see what would happen on the other side.

I knew there was a purpose for coming here, but I didn’t know how big it would be.

If you haven’t read one of my emails for a while, you may not know that before leaving Ontario I had been suffering from hives for 10 weeks straight. They came upon me when I signed up to work with a business coach after taking four years off from coaching after a very negative experience.

When I got to Texas my friend brought me to one of her appointments and all I knew was that she called it “body work”.

While sitting in the room with the people receiving energy work, I felt a tingling in my feet and then a wave emotion rise up through my body and out through my eyes in tears.

This was when my friend looked at me and suggested that as an exchange for me watching her pets, she gift me a package working with the women at Hive Chiropractic.

Here’s where things got interesting.

I live in a city with one tenth of the population of Austin and don’t like driving. The mere idea of driving in a city with over a million people terrified me.

Then there was the fact that if I said yes, I would be required to receive the loving exchange my friend was offering. Which felt just as terrifying as driving to be honest.

Could I be the person to face my fears of driving in a foreign city while simultaneously receiving this level of love?

The answer was a resounding yes which was accompanied with loads of tears. I’ve found that allowing the vibration of love in makes me cry just as much as allowing grief to flow through my body. They really are two sides of the same coin.

When I left my friends appointment that day I knew my hives would be gone the next morning and they were. Four weeks later and they haven’t returned.

I feel like going into detail about what I experienced working with the women at Hive Chiropractic should be another email as it was such a profound experience. It is a reflection of how powerful energy healing is.

My final session of body work was on Thursday, and a previous client and friend slept over Friday night. Yesterday she performed an egg clearing ritual on me. This looks like blessing me and the egg, then gently rubbing it down my body to allow the egg to pull any energy into it that wasn’t serving me.

After you’ve finished moving the egg down the body, you crack it into some water and wait a few minutes to see if there are any strings or fogginess that occur. The strings represent attachments, and the fogginess represents any areas of life that are still unclear.

When we looked in my glass my friend declared, “wow, your energy is clear”.

THIS is why I needed to come to Austin. To receive the gifts required to clear my energy and step into the next expansion of my work.

Which Spirit has been very vocal about.

The other thing that has come through since being here is that I’m going to be taking the summer off reading self development books.

It’s time to integrate all the knowledge I’ve been reading and turn it into wisdom.

The library will be closed for summer as I spend more time outside in nature and less time inside reading books. Look for the books I read each month to begin again in the fall when the light disappears and the dark descends.

Now… let’s talk about the books I read in June!

Fiction

When I picked up The Wolf and the Woodsman I wasn’t sure if I had read it before or not. Sometimes by TBR and read books get mixed up. As I began to read, I felt myself drawn into the story of folklore and magic that is the premise of this book. A young girl who comes from a Pagan community of gifted healers and seers, yet doesn’t show any signs of “the gift” gets sent off to be sacrificed to the throne. By half way I knew I had read the book and decided I was done as I knew how it ended. As it turns out, I feel this book wanted to come on my trip so I could lend it to my friend for her travels and rekindle her love of reading fantasy. I highly recommend this book as it weaves magic and tradition through different religions and crafts.

The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods is one of my favourite books of all time and I have yet to read another Evie Woods book that has swept me away in the same fashion. The Violin Maker’s Secret was my second favourite book Evie Woods has written and I believe it’s because when she weaves a thread of magic through her stories, they come alive in a different way. This story brought together an unlikely group of people to solve a mystery that was over 100 years old, involved a violin that was more human than instrument, and held the story of a great love lost. With each chapter I fell more in love with the characters and by the end was impressed with how the many storylines of the book all combined to a perfect close. It was cozy, sweet and had the happiest of endings.

I loved this book. There are times when a book captures my attention from the very first page, and this was one of those books. City of Stardust told the story of a family curse that fed a fallen star for hundreds of years. It was rich in character development, storytelling and world building… even with more than one world to build. The idea of stars falling onto earth and requiring blood sacrifice to stay young was something I wasn’t expecting as was the idea that one human could completely change the life of an entire lineage with one decision. Doors to other worlds, keys to travel through portals, scholars to hold realms together. All these pieces make exactly the type of story I want to read. Highly recommend.

What to say about this book. It was very confusing at the beginning and I wasn’t sure I was going to keep with it. By mid book it started to pick up steam and by the end I was intrigued enough to want to read book two. The idea of the book was good, it was just that it felt like the author was having trouble bringing all the scenes together clearly. If you enjoyed Six of Crows, there is a quality of this book that mirrors that. Orphans, vampires, taking down the crown, and an unlikely crew hired to do a heist to overthrow the government. I didn’t love this book, but I didn’t hate it either and I’m hopeful the author can redeem the potential in book two.

Non Fiction

This was a hard book to read. Having read a Hypnotists Journey to Avalon, I bought this book for my husband as he has had some memories come through that could be reminiscent of living during the time of Atlantis. What was uncovered through many clients going under hypnosis told a dark story of what Atlantis did and why it needed to be destroyed. There was a lot of human sacrifice and experimentation in this book and my sensitive soul was greatly impacted by it. I did complete the book even though it was difficult hoping there was going to be some indication of a time when Atlantis was in its golden era. It did not. The author Sarah Breskman Cosme does say the book was written for those who remember living through the downfall of Atlantis and are looking to find solace in the truth of how that may be impacting them today. If you feel that your past life in Atlantis is impacting you now, this book may resonate in a way it didn’t for me.

This book was written by the founder and creator of Network Chiropractic, which is the energy healing I received at Hive Chiropractic in Austin. Since I couldn’t explain what was happening to me, I was hoping this book would shine a light on the method of healing these chiropractors used. The book was a great read and breaks down where you are in terms of a level of healing, however I am still as confused as I was before as to how those trained in Network Chiropractic do their energy work. I will say reading this book made me think about the people in my life and what stages of healing they would be in. Interesting read but nothing that felt new or life changing.

I couldn’t find another book I wanted to read on my friends bookshelf so I wandered into Pinterest intent on finding a book that called to me. This was the book that jumped into my awareness and I’m so happy it did. As an upper chakra person my gifts lay in manifestation, going after your dreams, being the vibration of your desire and calling to Source as a co-creator. This book brought me home to all of these aspects of myself. It was if each chapter cemented in the work I am good at and why I came to earth. If you are someone who loves law of attraction, becoming the frequency of what you desire, and aligning your actions to the quantum field, then you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

This is my final book in the library before I take a break for the summer. I haven’t started it yet, but have wanted to read it for months. So much so that I put a hold on it at the library but never made it there to pick it up. I begin reading it tomorrow and am excited that it will hold me during my final week in Austin before I go home. My intention for this last week here is to be in gratitude for all the ways this trip fell into my lap and the growth I’ve experienced while being here. I feel like this book is a perfect companion to hold this frequency with me. I can’t tell you yet if I enjoyed it, but I have a good feeling I will.

When I was little I lived in a fantasy world.

I would make elaborate lives up for my barbies, giving them homes, jobs, pets and friends. When I really got rolling I could lose hours playing with them. I did this into my teen years.

If I wasn’t playing make believe, I was reading. Can you guess the genre of books I was reading? You guessed it, fantasy. Reading gave me the ability to leave my life and disappear into a magical world.

When I watched tv, I fantasized about living the lives of the main characters. It can be said that I would declare I could play the main character better then they could. Most likely because my ability to live in my own dream world was unrivalled to many.

It wasn’t until I began working with chakras in my thirties that I realized that this level of fantasy was how I survived a life I didn’t know how to be a part of. It kept me safe and gave me the ability to believe that there was something better waiting for me.

There comes a point in each of our lives where we get hurt. This hurt can come from our parents, friends, first loves, grandparents. The who isn’t what I want to focus on for this article. It’s what happens energetically when the hurt happens.

When someone we trust hurts us it signals to our bodies to protect our heart. It’s devastating and to be honest, no one teaches us how to manage heartbreak.

What I discovered after reading chakras for years, was that at the moment we protect our hearts, we become upper chakra people - like moi - or lower chakra people - like my husband.

Once I discovered this, it left one big, juicy question to be answered… how do we open our hearts to access all of our energy?

I’ll get to that in a moment, but let’s break down what an upper and lower chakra person experiences so you can understand where you land in this story.

Upper Chakra People

If you are an upper chakra person you love to dream. Your greatest skill set is in seeing the higher perspective.

This means that visualizing a year from now, your vision board, what you want to wear to event in three months, what your home renovation will look like… all this comes easy to you.

Most likely your work in the world involves seeing the bigger picture, tapping into higher frequencies, working in future planning or accessing yours and other people’s dreams.

All this to say, that you have no problem tuning in to what is possible. You are down right brilliant at it.

Here’s where it gets sticky.

In shadow, this looks like getting locked in the vision and having no idea how to bring the dream into physical form.

• getting bored easily and jumping from one idea to the next

• giving people more chances than they deserve because you see their potential not who they actually are

• having trouble feeling grounded and wanting to spend time in your imagination insead

• always changing something in your business because it seems like a better idea

• not wanting to be on this planet or feeling like you don’t belong here

• having trouble focusing on mundane tasks like finances, taxes, and organizing what needs to be done to get the results you want

• giving your power away to others so they can fix or solve what needs fixing and solving so you can keep dreaming

You get the drift.

When you are locked in your upper chakras, anything that has to do with pulling the dream into reality gets stuck at the protected heart and can’t make its way into reality. If it does, it usually doesn’t stay long because there is usually some other shiny object to draw your attention away.

Lower Chakra People

If you are a lower chakra person, you are exceptional at living in the real world. You understand what needs to be done to make sure the bills are paid and your future is taken care of.

Your greatest gift is in being where you are and planning for every probable outcome. You understand how the world works and what it takes to live in.

You also possess the gift of making things real. You can make code become a functioning program, you can turn a hundred dollars into thousands, you can build a spreadsheet like a rockstar - can you say excel - and you can look at what’s happening and see where things could fall through the cracks.

Most likely you work in numbers, programming, politics, social sciences or health care. Again, these are just examples, but show that you are deep in what is happening in the world around you. You live firmly placed in reality.

Which can feel super heavy and create a sense of “is this all there is?”.

In shadow, this can feel like being stuck in the routines of life without any opportunity for things to change.

• staying in a job because it’s better the devil you know vs the devil you don’t

• not taking vacations or spending money on yourself because it’s frivolous

• believing in something when you see it cause obviously you need proof

• having trouble taking risks because there is nothing certain in a risk

• making sure you have a plan a, b, and c incase something goes wrong

• staying in relationships because they aren’t that bad or you don’t believe there is something better

• easily become complacent and stop doing any extras in life to make things better

You can see how this plays out.

When you are locked in your lower chakras it feels like whatever is happening in your life is simply your reality. It’s what you know and what you can see. If things do change in your life they are usually triggered from outside of you and once the shift happens, you stay exactly where you are again. This becomes your new reality.

How to Open your Heart

There comes a moment when something triggers the pain you felt when you closed your heart.

If you are able to sit with this pain, you will open your heart and experience energy flowing down into your lower chakras or up into your upper chakras.

Grief is the bridge.

How long have you been avoiding the pain and trying to live above it?

For me it wasn’t until I was in my forties. Years into my healing journey.

It came when I broke up with a coach who was on my journey to break me free from narcissistic abuse. Something I had grown up with but never stood up against.

When I ended that relationship grief washed over me in waves. Grief that I had given this coach so much of my time and money. Grief that I couldn’t have a family that loved me unconditionally.

But most importantly, I grieved the loss of the fantasy I had been holding onto. The one that told me my family would do their own healing work and we would live happily ever after.

With that grief my heart opened and I crash landed into my lower chakras. For the first time I could feel gravity and the pull of the earth below me. Everything felt heavy and I struggled to understand how people lived like this.

That’s what it feels like for an upper chakra person to land in their lower chakras. Heavy.

The opposite is true for when a lower chakra person opens their heart and gains access to their upper chakras. It feels ungrounded.

When I am working with someone who is accessing their upper chakras for the first it feels like being cast adrift. Like being flung out to sea far from solid ground.

Once the energy stabilizes, magic begins to happen.

An upper chakra person can follow through on an idea until it has taken form and a lower chakra person can let themselves take action towards something they want, before they see proof that it’s possible.

Grief as the Bridge

I want to take a moment and normalize grief as an important part of the spiritual journey.

There comes a time when you need to understand that grief is a gift that allows you to have access to higher emotional states.

When you are afraid to feel the pain of loss, you will force yourself to live in a controlled emotional environment. Not feeling low and not feeling high. Staying in a window of emotional neutrality. Think of it like painting life with only a few of the primary colours. It’s not bad, but it’s also not the unlimited rainbow that’s available when you have all the primary colours to choose from.

It’s also important to note that we are meant to experience grief over and over again in our lives.

• when we move houses

• when we change jobs

• when we lose our pets, our loved ones, our friends

• when we launch something new

• when we hold a boundary

• when we break up with someone or something in our lives

• when we step into our dreams

This grief represents the dying of a previous version of ourselves in order to usher in the new.

We have to be willing to let go of the person we were to become the person we are.

When I finally opened myself to grieve the loss of my fantasies, I was able to fully appreciate the life I was living. My capacity to hold more love and gratitude expanded.

Now I cry more freely for both deep sadness and great joy.

Where does this leave you?

Well I hope it’s given your something to think about. I believe we can’t make a change in our lives unless we are willing to look at the things we are ignoring.

It’s in the discomfort that we grow.

Walking into my laundry room and finding my son standing with a chair placed in front of him and a cord dangling from his hands is a moment that is forever etched into my memory.

Even writing about it draws that day so close to the surface I can feel the tears building in my eyes and my heart stutter with dread.

Everything shifted in slow motion while thoughts bombarded my mind. Was I a bad mom? Could I still in the live in the house if I’d been too late? How did this happen?

As intense as this moment was, it initiated a string of events that restructured my entire life. It began with an ultimatum to my son to get help, he refused and chose to live on the streets, and I sunk into depression for the first time in my life.

Two years later, when the dust settled, everything in my life had changed. Most importantly being the work I do in the world. It was during those two years I began speaking to Angels and my Guides, which became the foundation for reading chakras and doing energy healing.

As you go through this article, I’m going to share my personal Initiations to highlight what is possible when you shift your perception about what you are experiencing, but I have been blessed to walk my clients through their own Initiations for over ten years.

Witnessing them open up portals of transformation that have quantum leaped their lives forward. Shifts that would not have been possible without some form of external trigger catalyzing the change.

What is an Initiation?

Did you see the word initiation hidden in the sentence above? It’s there for a reason. An Initiation almost always begins with a life changing event that forces you to look at your life from a new perspective.

This can be, but is not limited to:

• losing your job

• a medical diagnosis

• winning the lottery

• going bankrupt

• losing someone you love

• receiving a book deal

• divorce

• a move to a new country

• going viral

The catalyst can be both painful or exciting. It’s sole purpose is to open a portal inviting you to walk through to a new version of yourself.

Sitting on my couch, my hands shaking so badly I nearly dropped the phone, I told my coach I was done.

For almost two years I had given her everything. I let her tell me my ideas were wrong while I paid her to do it. Her philosophy was that the law of rhythm meant that everything I spent on her would come back to me magnified. That the only way to make money was to spend it. That way the universe would know that I was allowing money to flow through me.

Four hundred and fifty thousand dollars later, I was broke and broken.

As someone who grew up in a narcissistic family, I felt more comfortable letting someone else tell me who I was then listening to my own inner wisdom.

I believed she had my best interest at heart and genuinely cared about me. That when she told me I couldn’t be friends with anyone else she worked with, it was because it would interfere with my business and she wanted to see me succeed.

If you didn’t come from a home that took your identity from you, you may not see the pattern here. That safety came from the familiar. That even though it felt excessive, I understood it emotionally. It was easier to believe her than it was to stand up for myself.

The day I broke up with her I began a new cycle in my life. One where narcissism no longer had a grip in my life. The money I spent and the years I lost myself to her, initiated me into the truth of who I am.

When I hung up the phone that day I knew I was free. That no one would ever have that kind of power over me again. That lesson changed my life.

What happens during an Initiation?

Regardless of where an Initiation comes from, it asks you pay attention to what is happening inside you.

It draws attention to something that is out of alignment in your life.

The only way to proceed is to unpack a belief or story you are telling yourself that no longer aligns with who you are becoming.

You may be telling yourself that you don’t deserve success, then you go viral and are forced to work through all the conditioning that told you you weren’t good enough.

You may be financially secure and then lose everything because you are required to release the attachment to money being your definition of worth. That you are perfect and whole without any external validation.

You may get a book deal and then slump into a depression because you know how to give to others but you have never learned how to receive good for yourself without feeling selfish.

You may get a diagnosis that rocks your world but draws attention to the fact that you have been repressing your emotions and the only way forward is to work through the emotions you never let yourself feel when you were younger.

Each of these situations could be seen as catastrophic. You finally get a book deal and then can’t write because you can barely get out of bed, or you build a nest egg and lose everything in stock market crash.

But within each of these events lies another perspective. Some way that you can grow to allow even more opportunities into your life.

I had just published my first book when my entire family fell apart.

My sister read it and then proceeded to tell everyone I had thrown our entire family under the bus for personal gain.

My mom called me distraught, begging me to call my sister and apologize. She told me my sister was hurt and that it was my responsibility to fix it.

I didn’t believe I had done anything wrong, so I refused.

My sister then told my mom that I had talked about her suicide attempts (which I had my mom’s permission to do), so my mom stopped talking to me.

My sister told my dad that I blamed him for everything that had gone wrong in my life, so my dad stopped talking to me.

Neither one of my parents read my book. They took what my sister said at face value and for months I had no contact with anyone in my family of origin.

This silence forced me to see patterns that I had refused to look until then. It broke the fantasy I had created that everything was perfect and there hadn’t been any abuse growing up.

When it came time to open myself back up to my family, the only person I still wanted in my life was my mom.

Writing my first book initiated me to break free from toxic family relationships and to stand up for myself. Something I had never done before.

How do you change your perspective during an Initiation?

I have a saying… well I have lots of sayings… but the one I am going to share with you today is…

We can not control the events that happen in our lives, but we can control how we choose to look at them.

The fact is that we are here on this earth to grow, expand and discover more about ourselves. To do this, we need outside forces to show us where we need to continue our work.

These outside forces can be our partners, our children, parents, friends, work, or any other person, place or thing that highlights where we are still holding on to old stories.

The shift in perspective is in going from feeling as though we don’t have any control over what’s happening, to realizing we are actually the ones who get to decide how we show up in each moment.

As you can tell in the stories I’ve been sharing, my life has not been easy. From my family of origin, to my finances, to my relationships, to the coaches I have hired (minus the one I have now - love you ). Any of these events could have stopped me in my tracks.

The shift is in giving these life events a new name. One that holds the frequency of growth and expansion. Instead of being taken out by them, we become initiated by them.

Before there were cars, technology, infrastructure, travel, people who wanted to face parts of themselves would go into the forest or a cave for month. There they would face the darkest parts of themselves.

In modern times, our caves find us. They swallow us whole and demand we do the work to emerge more grounded and aligned to who we want to be in the world. It’s uncomfortable, sometimes terrifying, but always transformative.

I call these Initiations.

I will never forget the phone call that landed me at rock bottom.

Our lives had taken a turn when my husband was let go of his job and I was not working to tend to one of our kids. Without a steady income coming in, we asked his parents if we could move in with them to get back on our feet. They said yes.

Two weeks after we moved in we received the dreaded phone call. It was from the storage company where we had placed our furniture; there was a puddle outside our unit.

With a sense of foreboding we headed out to see what the damage was. When we lifted the door on our unit we were met with not one leak, but two. We lost all our furniture that day.

I remember returning to my in-laws and feeling completely bottomed out. We were homeless and had just lost everything we owned. At forty six years old, I had nothing to my name.

This could have been the worst experience of my life, but instead it taught me what true abundance was. That belongings didn’t make you rich. A loving family, simple pleasures, and faith did.

This moment in my life initiated me into financial literacy and unconditional love. It changed my entire perspective on wealth.

The fine print on Initiations

When you find yourself at the threshold of an Initiation, your first instinct might be to go it alone.

Chances are, if you are reading this, your childhood wasn’t exactly easy.

You probably learned at a young age that the safest way to make it through life was to control the narrative. The less you depended on others, the less you could get hurt.

I get it. I really do.

But if I have learned anything through my years of Initiation after Initiation, it’s that we aren’t meant to do this alone.

Heck, sometimes the Initiation is to let yourself be supported. To trust that someone is holding the container for you while you do the big work. That alone may feel terrifying.

But it’s necessary.

You can only grow so far on your own.

On my path I’ve had incredible therapists, coaches, and guides. I’ve made friends that can hold all of me and I married a man who is loyal and safe.

As scary as it is to open your heart to allow people in. It’s the fine print on making your Initiation make sense.

Its through others we can see ourselves reflected back to us. Especially when we are in the weeds and can’t seem to see the light.

It had been 4 years since I had a business coach. After the trauma of the last coaching container I was in, my nervous system felt triggered at the mere idea of letting someone in.

I also knew that I was ready to grow my business and that to heal the trauma from my last coach, I needed to change the narrative.

Before I worked with the toxic coach, I had worked with someone who was safe. So safe they scared me to death. Their level of care was so genuine my body didn’t know how to respond to it. Having a healthy relationship felt like the threat.

I’m not going to paint a pretty picture and tell you signing up was easy. As soon as I clicked the buy button a rush of terror flooded my system. All the emotions I hadn’t dealt with since breaking up with my last coach flooded to the surface.

But do you know what happened? She held them. All of them.

It was through signing up with her I initiated into a new level of care. One where I could be completely vulnerable and safe.

I want this for you.

Wherever you are in your Initiation I am so proud of you.

Looking at the hard things and being willing to see the growth edge through it is a quality most people don’t have.

Most people want to be victimized by their circumstances.

To see life as a personal attack on who they are.

But not you.

As you are opening this email to read, I am deep in packing mode.

Tomorrow I take my first flight in over two years to head out on a solo adventure for five weeks.

I’ll be pet sitting for a dear friend who is on a magical adventure to see The Cure in Ireland (swoon).

For me, staying put in a comfy home with pets to love feels just as magical.

I’m the traveller who scopes out the area long before I land. I’ve found my gluten free bakery, butcher shop, grocery story and the gym well in advance.

I like to become part of the neighbourhood. Living like I’ve always been there with an occasional jaunt into the city.

This may seem boring to some, but to my sensitive soul, it feels like heaven.

No husband, no kids, no distractions. Just me, my imagination, my soul work, and 3 cats and 2 dogs! The perfect setting for magic to unfold.

Plus… think of all the books I will be able to read!!

Speaking of books… here’s the list of books I read in May…

Fiction:

After reading book one in April, I found myself transported back into this world of magic and mayhem by Kevin Hearne. It is very few books that make me laugh out loud, and this author has a knack of making me do that. I mean, with a Hobgoblin that gets high eating salsa, how could it not. I’m excited for book three in this series as I am still left hanging after this book about where the curse came from! I guess I’ll have to wait to find out.

If I told you that this series was about a school built around the moon phases, and that whatever moon phase you were born on would decide what magical abilities you would be learning about; would that be enough to have you running to the bookstore? It would me. Infinite Shores by Pascale Lacelle is book three in a serious that started with Curious Tides and is one of my favourite series of all times. It is an epic fantasy adventure with a book at the heart of it all. One that has the main characters jumping through time and realms. These are a few of my favourite things! Honestly, I haven’t heard of anyone else reading this series, but it is SO GOOD. I ten out of ten recommend.

Oh V.E. Schwab. You have done it again. You never disappoint me and each of your books feel completely different from anything else you write. I’m obsessed with this author. Vicious is book one, Vengeful below is book two and this year Victorious comes out… which is why I picked up this series in the first place. I didn’t want to wait too long for the final pieces of the puzzle to land. To give you an idea of what this series is about, it involves NDE’s opening up “abilities” but removing essential parts of being human. In the first book you learn exactly how this phenomena occurs and meet the two main characters that drive the series.

Then you step into book two and it only gets better. This series gives off Marvel meets Batman meets Alfred Hitchcock vibes. The story moves quickly and jumps from one character perspective to another. Think Magneto and Professor X as the two main characters as they navigate through the dark drama this book holds. Intrigued? It’s good. I inhaled each book in a couple of days.

After all that drama, I wanted something light to read and my friend recommended Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune. What a delightful read this book was. It focuses on a man who has recently passed away and finds himself in a tea shop with the ferryman, who is not what you expect. I laughed, I cried; it was the full gambit of emotions. If love a queer love story set in a teashop with some of the most memorable characters you will ever read, you will love this book.

Non Fiction:

My husband read this book a couple years ago because he adores Rick Rubin and I felt like I could use a hit of creative motivation. Rick Rubin is a music producer who helps bands extract some of their best work. His take on creativity and how to work with it is a spiritual journey with definitive practices to support the process. I enjoyed the book. It wasn’t one of my favourites, but it had some memorable moments. It’s an easy read and if you are an artist in any way, a good support for your work.

I loved this book. It came to me as I was scrolling Facebook Marketplace and got a nudge from my Guides to buy it. It then sat on my shelf for a few months until I felt those same Guides tell me I had to read it. Immediately. Which I did. Robert Moss’s ability to share stories about dreaming and working in the dream state is powerful. If you had asked me if I was a dreamer before reading this book, I would have said no. Now I know I am and am looking forward to exploring this side of my gifts. I highly recommend this book or any book written by Robert Moss. Storytelling is always at the heart of what makes a great book in my world and Robert Moss is expert in this department.

The Seven Sacred Flames isn’t a book, it’s a spiritual journey. One that takes you to the heart of Christ Consciousness. Following the seven meditations, you recalibrate your energy to the divine love of Source creator. I’ve read this book and taught it many times. Last month I did it for my paid membership The Haven. Instead head to Mt Shasta Publishing and order it directly from their website. The amount of LOVE in this book is beyond words. You will feel the Ascendent Masters and Archangels guiding and supporting your every step. One of my most favourite spiritual texts of all times.

It was a good month for reading!

I would say that it wasn’t so good for my hives, but I don’t think that’s true. I’m learning a lot about myself and my body through this process.

Here are some of the things I’ve learned after 10 weeks with hives:

If I do what I hear my body say it needs, things get better.

If I go down a rabbit hole of what to do about my hives, things get worse. It tells my brain to expect things that I don’t think my body would do otherwise.

My body likes sound healing frequencies right now. The more I listen, the less symptomatic I am. I listen to ones for auto immune, nervous system regulation, relief of hives irritation, inflammation. Whatever I feel called to listen to, I do. This makes sense for me because I’m an energy girlie and frequency is everything in my world.

I’ve also learned walking is out. The only two times I’ve gone for hour long strolls are the only two times I’ve got hives on my legs.

That I’m lucky. Hives last a few days in each spot and have a life cycle. Even if they are annoying, they don’t stay that way. Some days I have only a few and some days I have a lot. They tend to come out more near ovulation and my period, or when I’m stressed or exercise.

We know our own bodies. I started this journey a year ago. Things weren’t the way they are now but I knew something was off. I made my first appointment with an allergist last summer and put myself on a year long wait for a gynaecologist. I see them both in July.

That my days don’t change, just my routines. I now do cold compresses, take over the counter meditation twice a day, and put calamine lotion on 3-4 times a day. Doing this is just part of my day now. It’s not good or bad, it just is.

I love my body just as much now as I did when she didn’t have hives.

To help with inflammation, I don’t eat anything out of a bag, box or can right now. It’s increased the amount of time in the kitchen, but has also increased my energy. So in this I’m winning.

Overall, I don’t feel that my life has changed too much. I’m more aware of my body than before.

I also believe my hives are part of a bigger story and that one day I will understand what their message was. Until then I keep showing up, keep listening, and keep doing both my inner and outer work to support them.
