The Sacred Pause
and becoming the weavers of our own tapestries
It’s the space between Christmas and new years, which always feels a bit liminal to me.
Ready for the energy of a new year but stuck at the end of the current one.
It’s like waiting in the queue for a ride you’re excited to experience but being in the longest line ever.
I call this the sacred pause.
The in-between.
The void.
For many years I rushed through this energy. Trying to jump the line to get to the new year as fast as possible.
Focusing on new goals. New intentions. New resolutions.
Never slowing down to acknowledge or close out the previous year. Committed to the belief that the year was over so let’s just move on and make new things happen.
Then six years ago I began asking different questions.
Questions about what I’d received in the year that was closing. Focusing inwards on how I felt, what I’d learned, how I’d shifted.
It was one of the most life altering moments I’d ever experienced.
Instead of focusing on what didn’t happen the way I’d planned, it allowed me to witness how things had unfolded for me.
How the year had offered me opportunities and gifts to put me on new paths I would have never have noticed before.
It illuminated the magic that was my life so I could see how the threads all wove together. Highlighting the tapestry of my life and offering me a chance to honour it.
This year it feels even richer as we close out a nine year cycle that began in 2017.
I feel myself reflecting on not just this year, but the patterns that were woven over the past nine years.
Threads that held my perceptions of abundance, material belongings and familial relationships.
Changing the very fabric of my tapestry in heart breaking and beautiful ways.
Allowing me to honour my journey and see how all I’ve been through has brought me closer to myself.
Me.
The experiencer of this life.
The one who grieves and cries and laughs and loves.
It’s in this pause I find the truth of who I am and what I believe in.
It’s why I created Reflect and Rise five years ago.
A time to come together and honour the closing of one year and the opening of another.
With each passing year I realize how sacred this event is.
How potent it is to come together in community and be seen in the fullness of who we are.
To be held in our grief and our joy. To both see it and share it.
This year Reflect and Rise is happening on Friday January 9th and Saturday January 10th from 12-4 EST.
It holds the frequency of this past year and the last nine years.
The first day is the completion work. The witnessing and sharing.
Day two is the opening. The choosing of the colours and threads for the year ahead.

Taking the loom and creating the lives we wish the experience one thread at a time.
